Meet the Artist

Steph Nierstenhoefer is an award-winning artist and designer based in Auckland, New Zealand. Born and raised in Germany, she moved to Aotearoa in 2002 shortly after graduating from ECOSIGN, Academy for Sustainable Design, in Cologne. She mainly worked as a freelance graphic designer and photographer, before moving into Marketing in 2018.

With a unique and innovative approach to her craft, Steph’s work celebrates the often-overlooked details of our natural surroundings. Using a mixed-media conversion process, she carefully illustrates her original photographs. Highlighting the most interesting aspects of the image, while removing any distracting noise, results in captivating and visually stunning pieces of art.

OOAK is a long-awaited business idea, which came to fruition during the pandemic in 2020.

one of a kind.

About OOAK

OOAK offers unique limited edition giclee prints on fine art paper. Each artwork is based on an original photograph by Steph Nierstenhoefer, and has been carefully illustrated and coloured. OOAK prints have an individual quirkiness and are a guaranteed eye-catcher in any home.

Prints are limited between 5 -100 across all sizes. However, for a truly OOAK print, 1 copy per artwork has been reserved to suit customer specifications, in colour and size. All prints are signed, numbered, embossed and include a Certificate of Authentification.

OOAK exclusively uses Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm paper. Due to the clearly defined felt structure, the paper gives OOAK prints a three-dimensional effect and depth. The premium matt inkjet coating guarantees outstanding print results with excellent reproduction of colour and detail, deep black, and optimum contrasts. Hahnemühle German Etching is acid- and lignin-free and conforms to ISO 9706 for museum-quality results for the highest age resistance.

Considering the Environment

I put a lot of thought into the concept of OOAK. Choosing a long-lasting, museum-quality paper in combination with giclee printing, results in a high-end product, that will last my customers a lifetime. I work closely with an amazing local fine art printing company, to achieve brilliant colour results for every single order. Producing prints locally in New Zealand does make my prints more expensive, compared to drop-shipping options offered overseas. Producing locally allows for quality control from my end, which means I can inspect every single print prior to embossing and signing. Each artwork is part of a limited edition to avoid mass production.

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime at steph@ooak.nz.
